SERV Connection Kits #GivingTuesday

Did you know that more than 180,000 people in New Jersey have an intellectual/developmental disability?
SERV Behavioral Health System supports many of these individuals by providing safe housing, supports, assistance with vocational pursuits, educational opportunities and more.
But for some of the people in our care, the greatest gift we can give them is the opportunity to have a better connection to the world we share. Whether they are struggling with acting-out behaviors, an inability to communicate, or severe isolation, we work toward discovering how to help them make long-lasting connections.
There are MANY coping tools available to assist; however, an individual may respond to only one or two on a vast list of sensory items. With this in mind, SERV has developed the Connection Kit model, but we need your help!
As we go into the community, meeting individuals in their group homes, family homes, or day programs, we need to bring a Connection Kit — a combination of tools designed to give individuals the freedom of choice to find what works best in helping them to connect to the world.
The kits, depending on the types of resources needed, can cost anywhere from $100 each to $600 each, and individual items can cost anywhere from $6 to $230. An entire set of kits costs over $3,000 and we need at least 6 sets, so every donation counts!
Please support SERV Connection Kits with your #GivingTuesday contribution and help open a window to the world for the people we serve!
